In the last few minutes, Detroit Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde announced that his forward Matt Luff will undergo surgery due to a serious injury sustained after Juraj Slafkovsky's questionable check yesterday.
"Matt Luff will be out for a minimum of ten weeks following the check from behind by Juraj Slafkovsky yesterday." - Renaud Lavoie
Luff will miss 10 to 12 weeks of activity. Ouch.
Bad news that Slafkovsky just learned.
As the excellent journalist Marc Antoine Godin reports, this announcement is really not good news for the young Slovak:
"I expect that the fact that Luff was injured will be something that the Department of Player Safety will consider in its verdict on Slafkovsky."
So the Department of Player Safety's verdict has obviously just gotten worse, and so the chances of Slafkovsky missing games would have just increased.
What is your prediction for Slafkovsky's suspension?
Do you think it makes sense to take into account the injury to the other player, instead of relying solely on the action? There are many reactions on the subject and many fans believe that it is not logical to rely on the injury suffered by the other player to determine a suspension.
