«LP» Guy and Gilbert Delorme (91.9 Sports) welcomed the new boss of the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday morning, Kent Hughes. Then, let's be honest: what a breath of fresh air! A man who is upright, authentic, intelligent and who is not afraid to convey certain information, where Marc Bergevin did not go.
Several questions were tabled:
Finally returning home after a long stay abroad, Hughes was finally able to work from his «Montreal» office, officially starting his daily work well installed behind his big leather chair.
Personally, what caught my attention was the dialogue about Shea Weber, the current team captain. Hughes still hasn't met Weber, but he should do it today (Thursday), most likely via ZOOM.
In short, in answering the question about the captain, it was felt that Hughes was skating a bit, but he practically confirmed Shea Weber's «retirement» who would not be working for a return to play right now.
«I can tell you with the information I have to date, because of the injuries, he probably won't come back!»
All this adds weight to this potential rumor that is circulating. Jo Drouin already said that the players were aware that it was a retreat, without forgetting that Hughes wants a new captain next season.
