Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton possibly made a very good move by adding forward Lias Andersson
As the Montreal Canadiens' 2023 training camp finally approaches, we are extremely eager to see the new acquisitions in action.
We are looking forward to seeing who will be the surprise this year. Who will be this year's Arber Xhekaj?
Here is a candidate.
Lias Andersson
Andersson, 24 years old, was the 7th overall pick (1st round) in 2017 by the New York Rangers. He was chosen six slots ahead of a certain Nick Suzuki.
Without making too much noise, especially for the price paid, this is a very interesting acquisition by Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton.
He still has his talent and potential, he is still young, and he had a very solid 2022-23 season. (62 points in 69 games in the AHL.)
Signed as a free agent, for a season and at the NHL's minimum salary, adding Andersson literally represents no risk.
Looking at his recent statistics, one might think that he is too strong for the AHL. A fresh start could do wonders for him.
A name to follow in the coming weeks!
