We are still waiting for the player that Kent Hughes will choose on Friday, but this is not the only file that interests the Canadiens' fans and one of the ones that has started to make the news lately is the rumour that the organization intends to acquire Colin White.
Especially with today's important news:
As Mathis Therrien of Danslescoulisses.com reports, tipster Elliotte Friedman posted an article in recent days on Sportsnet's 32 Thoughts, and he mentioned some Habs rumors that Jeff Petry, Christian Dvorak and Josh Anderson would be on the trade market. But he also linked an Ottawa Senators player to the Habs, one Colin White.
The latter was of great interest to Kent Hughes at the trade deadline and as luck would have it, the center's former agent was the Habs' general manager himself.
Now that Colin White's contract will be bought out, Hughes doesn't even have to make a trade to acquire him... He only has to sign him and besides, he obviously knows him very well.
The 25-year-old center may not have broken anything since his arrival in the NHL with a record of 98 points, including 36 goals in 224 games and his contract is not very attractive, he will receive an annual salary of $ 4.75 million for three more seasons.
However, Hughes might be tempted to bring him to Montreal at a low salary to see if his great potential can materialize with the Habs. Would you do it?
One thing is for sure, we can say a big thank you to the Ottawa Sens for the gift, because Hughes seems to really like White and seemed really on track to acquire him at 4.75 million (which would have been a bad move, in our opinion).
On the other hand, if we can sign him for 1.5 or 1.75 million, it gets a lot more interesting.
File to follow closely!
