When the NHL trade deadline passed, it was no surprise to anyone that Jeff Petry was still a member of the Habs.
Even though he was almost traded to the Philadelphia Flyers, his value was not high enough for Kent Hughes' taste, who would probably prefer to trade his defenseman this summer.
Moreover on this subject, Marco Normandin, of Habsolumentfan.com, mentions that a trade basis could very well be in place for the Habs defenseman.
In an interview on TSN, Kent Hughes revealed an interesting tidbit, saying he's had discussions with a few teams about Petry, including one in particular that made sense for both teams and could continue into the offseason. A foundation would be in place here.
At this time, we don't know the team in question, but we previously told you that the Detroit Red Wings and Dallas Stars had shown interest in Petry.
As we know, Petry asked the Habs for a trade last November and Kent Hughes mentioned that the organization's plan was to trade him, but only at his fair value.
Currently, Petry is sidelined with an injury and may have already played his last game in a Habs uniform.
