It is not yet known if Carey Price will be able to make a return to action this season. His rehabilitation is taking longer than expected and the goaltender is currently recovering from a non-COVID-19 related virus.
But perhaps a return to action this year could be the key to Price's future with the Habs.
As reported by Charles-Alexis Brisebois of Danslescoulisses.com, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman believes that if the Habs goalie is able to play a few games between now and the end of the season, there's a chance he'll be playing in other leagues next season.
If he comes back to play this year, I think there's a chance he'll play somewhere else next year.
At least that's what he mentioned in his 32 Thoughts podcast.
Seeing Price play a few games could give other teams a chance to evaluate him and see that he still has a few good seasons ahead of him.
On the other hand, if Price doesn't return to action this season, Friedman believes that Kent Hughes would be unable to trade him, as he wouldn't be very valuable to many NHL executives.
But since the Canadiens' goalie has yet to play a game since the arrival of the new management, it is difficult to predict what the plan is for the team's future.
For now, Jake Allen has done very well since his return to the game and patience could be the key for Carey Price, at least for the next season.
