Many topics were discussed during Kent Hughes' press conference today. In addition to discussing the Tyler Toffoli trade, he talked about Jordan Harris, Ben Chiarot and Jeff Petry.

One subject, however, has gone under the radar, that the new GM is in discussion with Nick Bobrov.

It was Marc-André Perreault who started it all and Hughes did not deny. Bobrov is a former European scout for the Rangers and from what we understand, he could very well join Montreal soon.

Bobrov was with the Rangers from 2015 to 2021. The link with Jeff Gorton is therefore obvious, as the two had been with the Rangers at the same time. Chris Drury finally left out Bobrov last May, a few weeks before the last draft.

While we don't know what position Bobrov could hold with the club, we can suspect that he could very well replace Trevor Timmins as head scout. He could also become an assistant to the GM or even director of European amateur scouting, a position currently occupied by Christer Rockstrom.

It will therefore be interesting to see the plans of the Gorton/Hughes duo as far as Bobrov is concerned.
