It has been said for some time now that Kent Hughes will not trade his power forward unless he receives an offer that can be described as exceptional.
Nothing surprising until now, but a source has just published a very interesting information regarding the Canadiens' number 17.
As reported by Max Truman of Danslescoulisses.com, Patrick Lortie, who is a freelance journalist who runs the blog A Winning Habit.com and is also a contributor to the Puck And Roll podcast, mentioned that the New York Islanders have reportedly shown interest in Anderson.
Also according to him, Lou Lamoriello would be willing to give away his first-round pick, the 13th overall, to bring the Habs forward to his team.
Obviously, this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt, but Stefen Rosner, who covers Islanders activities for NYI Hockey Now, has also reported Islanders interest in Anderson.
Could the Montreal Canadiens part with Josh Anderson in return for the 13th overall pick? According to some fans, this is a very interesting debate.
There is an interesting basis for a deal here but probably both sides will have to add some elements. Anthony Beauvillier's name has also been linked to the Habs lately and some pundits are saying that the Islanders are looking to trade him and as we know, Kent Hughes has 14 draft picks. It wouldn't be surprising if he used those picks to move up a few spots in the first round.
There is still some time before the first round on July 7 at the Bell Centre and until then, Kent Hughes' phone should be ringing quite often.
What do you think?
According to Lortie, the Islanders would be willing to offer the 13th overall pick to the Canadiens for Anderson! Would you do it?
One thing is for sure, if this information is accurate, it's very interesting for Kent Hughes to know that he has the 13th overall pick within his reach, as the 2022 draft approaches.
