In the last few seconds, the family of Montreal Canadiens legend Henri Richard announced very sad news.

The iconic number 16 had CTE. (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy)

This is the degenerative disease featured in the movie "concussion", starring Will Smith.

"Montreal Canadiens legend and Hockey Hall of Fame member Henri Richard, who passed away in 2020, tested positive for Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), a researcher and Richard's family announced on Wednesday." -TSN

This is the kind of discovery that could change everything for the future of the league, especially when it comes to fights and head injuries.

It truly seems to be the tip of the iceberg.

Henri Richard has officially become the 16th former NHL player to receive this diagnosis, and there could be hundreds more.

We see that it is a disease that affects many athletes beyond NFL players.

Richard passed away in 2020 at the age of 84. At the time of his death, Richard's family announced that he was suffering from Alzheimer's disease, which could be a consequence of CTE.

More details to follow.
