Drafted third overall in the 2014 draft, Leon Draisaitl has already proven that he belongs among the NHL's elite. Since his rookie year when he collected 51 points, the German has not stopped impressing alongside his sidekick Connor McDavid.
Draisaitl was particularly effective during the 2019-2020 season, when he collected no less than 110 points in only 71 games. This impressive haul had allowed him to get his hands on the Hart Trophy, awarded to the most valuable player to his team.
After seasons of 31, 43 and 50 goals, the 25-year-old center is just one goal shy of the 200-career mark. Draisaitl has 199 goals in 479 games with the Edmonton Oilers.
If the German can beat the opposing goalie in his next game, he will join Nikita Kucherov as the seventh active player for the fewest games played to reach the 200-goal plateau. The top-3 is made up of Alex Ovechkin, Steven Stamkos and Sidney Crosby respectively.
Draisaitl will have the opportunity to do just that tonight when the Oilers take on their Alberta rivals, the Calgary Flames, at 10:00 p.m.
