The New Jersey Devils are in a huge slump, having gone winless in their last five contests. They have fallen apart and failed to win more than once in their last ten games.
In fact, here's what Lindy Ruff had to say Saturday night following the 5-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings:
"Our best forwards are the ones that hurt us. I thought our depth players had a good night's work. They were great on the power play, scored the first goal and got the job done. Our top guys need to be tougher to play against.
They need to win more battles, I want to see them create more power plays and go to the net. Those are things that often make the difference at the end of the game."
But it looks like the 61-year-old felt uncomfortable after his comments about his star players as he quickly redeemed himself by blaming himself... The mistakes they make are HIS fault, according to him!
"This is all my fault. It's my responsibility. The way the team plays, that's my responsibility."
It's as if he realized that his speech was too harsh on his star forwards, so he decided to pull himself together with a little mea-culpa.
