As we told you in the last few minutes, Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes recently agreed to give a generous interview to TVA Sports reporter Anthony Martineau.

He began by confirming a big rumor that has been circulating:

And he also agreed to wet himself on one element (in particular) that he is currently coveting in the National Hockey League trade market.

Soon a third 2023 first-round pick for the CH?

While the 2023 crop of prospects has long been heralded as "excellent," would he (Kent Hughes) like to add a third first-round pick to his bank (he's already counting on his and the Panthers' Ben Chiarot trade)?

Answer from the Montreal Canadiens' general manager:

"Ideally, yes," he confirmed without hesitation. It's a good draft. We have good young prospects in the organization and it's important to get our hands on quality elements that will be able to play with them in the future."

- From Anthony Martineau

What transparency once again! So we shouldn't be surprised if, in the next few weeks, we learn that Kent Hughes has completed a trade to acquire (another) 2023 first round pick.

He's obviously going to try, anyway!

"Bottom line, Kent Hughes:

-Wants to add a 3rd first round pick to his bank for the upcoming auction. [...]" - Anthony Martineau

This is brilliant! For details:
