To kick off the week, and to look back on the Montreal Canadiens' rookie tournament, TVA Sports' excellent journalist, Marc-André Perreault, was interviewed on BPM Sports this morning.
He talked about one of the youngsters of the moment in Montreal, Arber Xhekaj, and he made a very interesting statement, especially concerning the future of the young giant-sized defenseman.
According to Perreault, his contacts with the CH are clear on one thing: Xhekaj is going to play in the NHL one day, and he is going to be a CH fan favorite.
Honestly, after the events of the last few days, it seems obvious.
"Me, Arber Xhekaj! I had a discussion with Francis Bouillon during the first game. I said, 'Francis, this doesn't make sense, I'll be honest with you. Last year, I was wondering what Arber Xhekaj was doing on the ice of the Montreal Canadiens' organization. And that's no disrespect. Sometimes, there are guys who just aren't there. And I saw Xhekaj and I was there, my God, that doesn't make sense. A player invited by the Canadiens. The flair they had to invite this guy and make him sign a contract. He's going to play in the National League one day. Everyone I've talked to in the CH organization is clear, Arber Xhekaj is going to play in the National Hockey League and he's going to be a crowd favorite in Montreal." - Marc-Andre Perreault
And regarding his famous fight with Zachary Massicotte:
"We'll settle the fight. He was the boss on the ice. He's too strong to be on there. I don't like the fight, but I shook it for a period. It was young Massicotte who went for Xhekaj. I didn't like seeing that, but look, what do you want him to do? The check on Lodin should have been punished, more than the boarding that was given and there, it was the referee who thought he would calm things down because he (Xhekaj) is too dominant, and there, it becomes too dangerous."
