During the final seconds, in a press conference alongside General Manager Kent Hughes, Jeff Gorton made a major statement regarding his future with the Montreal Canadiens.
He clearly denied the rumors that began circulating at the beginning of the month.
He will be back with the Montreal Canadiens next season.
"Are you already tired of me? Yes, I'll be back and I don't worry about the rumors going around. These rumors concern you, not me."
Jeff Gorton

Reminder of the rumor in question here:
"Martin Leclerc reports that in a column published by Nick Kypreos, the latter mentions that Jeff Gorton might be tempted to accept a GM position elsewhere in the NHL."
"Jeff Gorton would probably not refuse to return to duty as a general manager in another organization." - Martin Leclerc
Some went further, saying outright that Gorton is bored with the Habs.
In short, it's great news to learn that he'll be back in Montreal.
