It's not only in Montreal where there are casualties. It is also the case with the Philadelphia Flyers. We learned in the last few days that forward Sean Couturier will have to miss a long period of time due to a herniated disc and now another injury has hit the organization with the injury of defenseman Ryan Ellis.
With these two players expected to be out for a long period of time, it is obvious that GM Chuck Fletcher will have to look for reinforcements. As reported by Charles-Alexis Brisebois, of Danslescoulisses.com, this reinforcement could well come from Montreal.
During his appearance on BPM Sports, tipster Tony Marinaro suggested that the Flyers make a call to Kent Hughes to see if a trade between the two teams was possible and he even proposed a rather unusual exchange.
I'll admit that Marinaro's suggestion makes sense when you consider that the Habs have some depth at center with Nick Suzuki, Kirby Dach and Sean Monahan and that trading Christian Dvorak would free up some money on the payroll.
On the other hand, I'm not convinced that the Flyers would be willing to pay that much for a player like Dvorak, and with Couturier and Ellis out for most of the season, the idea of having a big draft pick in 2023 has to make Flyers management salivate.
In conclusion, even though it's only the beginning of NHL training camps, the rumor mill is back in full swing. In fact, it never stopped during the summer! Do you like Tony's trade proposal involving the CH and the Flyers?
Happy 2022-2023 hockey season!
