Surprise, surprise. Marc Bergevin spoke to the media this afternoon to bring everyone back to order regarding the Habs' start to the season. The general manager gave an update on several issues.
No, Marc Bergevin is not in panic mode. He doesn't plan on making a trade in the immediate future to improve his team. However, he could come down to the dressing room in the near future to shake up his boys' cage.
The Quebecer does not have a new contract for next season. However, he reiterates that this situation does not affect the team's performance in any way.
Regarding Joel Edmundson, Bergevin mentioned that the father of the defenseman was suffering from cancer, that's why he was kept away from the team. Family comes first according to Bergevin.
Does Marc Bergevin want to come back to Montreal next year? The answer is YES!
As for this impromptu press conference, Bergevin felt it was important to bring everyone back to order so as not to panic. Moreover, he knows that the market that is the Montreal Canadiens can go downhill quite quickly when things go wrong.
What about Shea Weber? It would be very surprising if he ever plays in the NHL again according to Bergevin.
