According to multiple sources, Mario Lemieux is close to selling the Pittsburgh Penguins to Fenway Sports Group.
According to Sportico, the value of the Pittsburgh Penguins would be around $845 million, the 15th highest value on the market in the NHL.
According to other information, when the sale is official, Lemieux would keep a small share of the franchise. Remember that Mario Lemieux has owned the Pennsylvania team since 1999.
Fenway Sports Group already owns several professional sports franchises, including the Boston Red Sox (MLB) and Liverpool FC (Soccer). NBA superstar LeBron James is a shareholder in the organization.
