Who will be the Montreal Canadiens' top scorer this season? Given the level of talent and depth the team will have, it's harder than ever to answer that question.

Last year, it was newcomer Tyler Toffoli who impressed fans by hitting the target 28 times in just 52 games during this 2020-21 season shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, however, the competition will be much tougher at the top of the team's scoring ranks, as Dominique Ducharme's team will be able to count on natural scorer Mike Hoffman, young phenom Cole Caufield, and hopefully the return to health of Brendan Gallagher, as well as Toffoli who definitely has the talent to repeat last season's feats.

Analyst and former goaltender Martin Biron has a different view of the race for the Tricolore's top scorer. While on the air at 91.9 Sports, Biron stated that right winger Josh Anderson would be the CH's best goal scorer for the 2021-22 season.

While bold, this prediction is far from absurd. After all, Anderson finished second on the team in scoring last season with 17 goals in 52 games. Meanwhile, his personal best, achieved during the 2018-19 season, is 27 goals.

Moreover, Anderson will have every opportunity to make his mark this season, as he has so far been placed on the right side of a trio completed by Christian Dvorak and Jonathan Drouin since the start of training camp. The trio already proved their partnership in the CH's last pre-season game by collecting nine points and being named among the game's stars.

If this trio continues to perform well, Josh Anderson will have the opportunity to surpass his 27-goal total, reach the 30-goal plateau for the first time in his career, and perhaps prove Martin Biron right about his prediction.
