It is now official. The Montreal Canadiens will be able to count on the services of a new promising young defenseman in the next few days.

Jordan Harris has just signed his entry-level contract with the Tricolore and will play games between now and the end of the season. Clearly, the next generation is being prepared in Montreal.

In addition to the young Justin Barron tonight (who got big minutes in overtime), Harris will also eventually be inserted into the lineup, but when?

Interim head coach Martin St-Louis was asked about his intentions for Harris during a post-game press conference.

St-Louis announced that Jordan Harris will (already) join the team on the road in the next few days and it could go very quickly in his case. Tricolore officials intend to play him as soon as possible and as often as possible, to finish the season. (At least, ideally, without rushing things too much either)

So we can expect the defense pairings to change in the next few days.

Harris, 21, has 20 points in 38 games this season in the NCAA, and 19 points in 19 games last season. His coaches see him as a future good all-around NHL defenseman.

The Habs drafted him 71st overall (third round) in 2018.
