As you know, there's a lot going on behind the scenes with the Montreal Canadiens and it's always interesting when people with great stories share them with us.

One of them is the excellent journalist Marc-André Perreault, who just reported on an incredible gesture made by Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St-Louis today in Nashville.

Basically, today, on this Tuesday, the journalists had taken the initiative to give Martin St-Louis a break from the media.

Perreault gives the reasons:

"With colleagues, we agree to give "leave" of press briefing to the coach. This happens on occasion. Most of the time, it's the day after a full practice after which the coach talks to us at length.

Today, a simple confirmation of lineup changes would have done the trick just hours before the game." - Marc-André Perreault, TVA Sports

Basically, St. Louis gave a long and generous media availability yesterday, so reporters wanted to give him a well-deserved break today.

Reporters were just waiting for some confirmations from the organization, particularly in relation to the statuses of David Savard and Anthony Richard (especially Savard).

So, as soon as the Habs made their official announcement regarding David Savard and some lineup changes, the reporters had their answer and were about to leave.

But not so fast:

Once we received the information, as we were about to leave, a member of the team's communications staff announced that the coach wanted to talk to us. But why?

As we enter the room, before the microphones are opened, the coach says that he has "no intention of hiding". - Marc-André Perreault, TVA Sports

Wow! Given that his team hasn't been winning lately (5 straight losses), St. Louis definitely didn't want to look like the coach who doesn't want to face the music in front of the media.

He made a point of "weathering the storm" and answering the toughest questions from reporters. It may not seem like a big deal, but it's almost unheard of for the Montreal Canadiens and is a huge show of leadership.

Instead of enjoying a little "reporter's time off" on game day, Martin St. Louis insisted on facing the music.

Hats off to him!

And a big thank you to Marc-André Perreault for the anecdote which, once again, says a lot about Martin St-Louis. For the details:
