In 2022, it wasn't always easy to be a Tricolore fan. However, the arrival of several new youngsters, Chantal Machabée, Martin St-Louis and a new culture in the team has put a balm on a year that was going nowhere.

The year ended the way it started, in a mess. Not only did the Habs lose games over and over, the decision to keep Juraj Slafkovsky with the team to play in a backup role instead of sending him to the World Juniors raised many questions.

In fact, Simon Nemec, a fellow countryman of Slaf's, who lost 4-3 in overtime to Canada on Monday night, thinks that the Tricolore's number 20 would have certainly made a difference in that game.

Simon Nemec addressed Juraj Slafkovsky's absence in the post-game press briefing

Q: Would he have made a difference in such a close game?

"I think he would have scored in overtime. But he wasn't there."

We would have liked to see Slafkovsky go out and dominate at the World juniors and honestly, if the Habs had known in advance that they would be going to lose like that, we're pretty sure that the CH staff would have sent Slaf to Halifax without hesitation.
