The season will take off on October 13 for the Montreal Canadiens, when they open their schedule against the Leafs in Toronto. Between now and then, many enthusiasts will be building pools in an attempt to win some loonies. Anyway, it looks like Mathias Brunet was eager to help the poolers with two predictions involving Habs players.
The first, he believes defenseman Alexander Romanov will reach the 30-point plateau, which is a tad bold, isn't it? If Romy doesn't channel his energy and hyperactivity, he's not likely to get anywhere near 30. Just like that, in his first year, he had six points in 54 duels.
In his second year, Brunet says that Nick Suzuki will score 65 points, which I think is a bit conservative. Suzuki has been improving steadily with 41 (in 71 games) and 41 (in 56 games) points in his first two years. That said, I have a feeling that Suzuki will come in with a colossal 75 point campaign!
Okay, maybe I'm the one thinking big with Suzuki, but what the heck, I like the way he's performing and progressing. A full season with Cole Caufield could create some fire!
