Mathieu Perreault signed a one-year, $950,000 deal with the Montreal Canadiens on July 28. The 33-year-old Quebecer was thus fulfilling his "little kid" dream, that was, to put on a Montreal Canadiens jersey.
The new number 85 of the Sainte-Flanelle is known as a Swiss Army knife because he can play in all offensive positions. He can even play the role of 2nd center, for example, in order to replace, without it looking too good, the one who is on the infirmary.
While we're on the subject of the center position, Mathieu Perreault left a little message to his new bosses: he prefers to play on the center line.
"I've played my whole career at center, that's where I'm most comfortable. At that position, you have more control over the performance of your line," said Perreault.
Perreault has taken 3075 face-offs in his career, for a success rate of 50.5%, which is excellent. That being said, will Dominique Ducharme and his teammates have gotten the message? As a 3rd center, he could do such a great job.
