One player that everyone will be keeping an eye on during the upcoming Montreal Canadiens training camp is undoubtedly Mattias Norlinder. The young offensive defenseman has all the tools necessary to break into the Montreal lineup, as he has incredible individual skills. Norlinder, the Habs third round pick in 2019, will be ready for the challenge ahead.
The team he plays for in Sweden, Frolunda, was playing a warm-up game this afternoon. Norlinder was in uniform for this one, as he is about to arrive in North America soon. The 21-year-old will likely have a head start on all the players at the Canadiens training camp in terms of timing as he will have had the chance to play games at the professional level, which not everyone has.
In addition to being able to play important games before the Habs camp, he will arrive on Quebec soil with some confidence. He scored two goals for Frolunda this afternoon, which should help him find his offensive game.
Let's just say we're very excited to see what he can do in North America. We will know very soon. One thing is certain, it's Montreal or Frolunda in his case. If the Habs were to cut him, Norlinder would go play the season in the Swedish first division, which would only help his development, as he will be used a lot by the Swedish team.
