Over the past few days, we have seen a truly spectacular series between the Edmonton Oilers and the Colorado Avalanche.
As they say, there was a lot of talent on the ice and in the end, it was Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar and their team that came out on top.
To go over all this, the excellent Maxim Lapierre and Guillaume Latendresse were on the show "Les amateurs de sports" on 98.5 Sports.
There were several interesting debates and exchanges, including one on the best player of the Colorado Avalanche.
Cale Makar or Nathan MacKinnon?
Check out Max Lapierre's answer, which drew a lot of reactions:
"Mario, I may surprise you, but I think he's the best player in the National Hockey League (he's talking about Cale Makar here). I understand that we have Connor McDavid on offense. He's spectacular, he skates and all that...but Makar is capable of playing both ways of the ice and I don't think he's even at his best yet. He's 23 years old. He's physical, he skates, he's creative, he's strong, he's able to fall back. You saw it when he played one-on-one against McDavid. It looked easy." - Maxim Lapierre We also recall that a certain Wayne Gretzky said that Makar is the best defenseman hockey has seen, since Bobby Orr. That's no small thing.
Makar is certainly an exceptional player, even generational, but many doubt this statement. Is he better than McDavid, in your opinion? Who do you think is the best player in the NHL?
There's a lot of talk about this debate. Hail to our colleagues at Marker.com for the nice pass on the paddle.
Makar, 23, has 22 points in 14 games during the current series.
McDavid, 25, has 33 points in 16 games in the current series.
