Yesterday, at the national funeral of Guy Lafleur, former No. 33 Patrick Roy paid a last tribute to Guy Lafleur.
In an interview with Kevin Dubé of the Journal de Québec, Roy looked back on this emotional day.
"It's sad to see someone leave so young but it was well organized. I was nervous before giving my speech but seeing the others before me allowed me to feel good and be ready when my turn comes."
Roy was touched to receive a call from Geoff Molson.
"It was a great pleasure for me to be able to talk about my first meeting, about the game [of February 4, 1989] as well as his last visit here at the Videotron Center. Those were the moments that had marked me in my meetings with Guy. I wasn't necessarily very close to him, but there was still a lot of respect on his part and on mine. I was touched that the Canadiens allowed me to give a speech so that I could pay tribute to him and share my story."
