Mike Hoffman has effectively bumped Sean Monahan from the first lineup, and Hoffman now lines up alongside Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield.
Many wonder why, because with his performances since the beginning of the season, it is unfortunately not because he deserved it.
One could possibly believe that it is to revive him, but the experiment has already been tried, without success. We already know that it is not enough to relaunch him.
So what option is left?
Many observers have begun to speculate about another option, which seems to be the most plausible.
What if Mike Hoffman has just been placed on the first line, in order to "show" him to other teams, in preparation for an impending trade?
After all, there is a lot of action in the stands at Montreal Canadiens games in the last few games. Teams are seriously watching the Habs players, especially the forwards.
Do you think that's why Mike Hoffman will be on the first line tonight? Do you think it's to try to increase his value a bit, in view of a possible trade?
It will be interesting to watch the scouts and executives that will be in the stands, especially if the Ducks send another big contingent.
Either way, the Montreal Canadiens will have to deal with their surplus of forwards sooner or later.
