I don't need to remind you that dynamic defenseman P.K. Subban, who officially retired today, was involved in one of the biggest trades of the last twenty years for the Montreal Canadiens.
With social media and all, it's probably one of the most talked about trades in Habs history.
On June 29, 2016, P.K. Subban was traded to the Nashville Preds for Shea Weber. A "one for one" deal concluded by general manager Marc Bergevin.
Since then, the debate refuses to die as to who won this monster trade. They are two very different defensemen and everyone has an opinion.
Now that Subban (33) and Weber (37) have obviously played their last game in the NHL, look at the final numbers:
Subban:
364 games played
54 goals
137 assists
191 points
Differential of -22
41 playoff games (24 points)
Weber:
291 games played
62 goals
92 assists
154 points
+35% differential
38 playoff games (14 points)
Please also note that P.K. has been re-traded, while Weber will have played all his games with the Montreal Canadiens (the trade to the Vegas Golden Knights is more of a contract swap).
So, in the end, who do you think won the trade?
