In the last few minutes, the excellent Jimmy Murphy (MTL Hockey Now) has just revealed some very interesting new information regarding a possible trade between the Montreal Canadiens and the Winnipeg Jets.

After receiving inside information yesterday from a top NHL executive, Murphy told us this:

"If Kent Hughes wants to acquire Pierre-Luc Dubois today, the element that could convince the Jets GM to make a move would be Kirby Dach, in his opinion."

We suspected that Kevin Cheveldayoff wants a center, in exchange for Dubois, and many have suggested Christian Dvorak's name for that reason, but the Jets would want Kirby Dach instead (among others).

We can understand Kent Hughes not doing it, and not wanting to do it in the draft, because it would be completely counterproductive.

Dach has excellent potential and the Canadiens' management (with reason) absolutely want to see him in action, before trading him.

Dubois will be as free as a bird in two years, and at that point, the CH will know what kind of player Kirby Dach can become. If he becomes the solid top-6 center that he has ample potential to be, that will speak volumes.

So that's why Dubois wasn't traded to Montreal. Do you agree? Would you trade Dach (plus something else) for Dubois yet?
