As we're just a few weeks away from another busy National Hockey League trade period, here's where The Hockey Writers does a good job of informing us about possible trades that could materialize.

It's nothing new, but as they point out, Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens have shown serious interest (including in the 2022 draft) in acquiring winger Jesse Puljujarvi from the Edmonton Oilers.

"We believe Edmonton Oilers forward Jesse Puljujarvi could end up with the Montreal Canadiens."

Many experts did believe that the trade could have been made in the most recent draft.

Journalist Rob Couch wondered what the Canadiens should offer in exchange for the giant-sized 24-year-old Finnish winger (6 feet 4 inches and 201 pounds).

A player like Kirby Dach, who still hasn't signed with the Habs, could be interesting according to him, but we forget about that.

Kent Hughes will never do that.

Also, with the abundance of young defensemen in Montreal, Couch believes that the Oilers could be interested in one of them, whether it's Justin Barron, Jordan Harris or Mattias Norlinder, but again, it's probably too expensive for the Habs' management.

The only one on this list that could possibly make sense for both organizations is Mattias Norlinder.

So that would be the only option here. Would you do it?

TO MONTREAL - Jesse Puljujarvi

TO EDMONTON - Mattias Norlinder (and possibly a mid-draft pick)

If not, we can possibly think of a Mike Hoffman, which would probably make a lot more sense. Let's also remember this, which is major:

According to what Jimmy Murphy (Montreal Hockey Now) reports, Kent Hughes would have indeed inquired about the young Jesse Puljujarvi, during the draft of last July 7 and 8.

Puljujarvi, a 24-year-old Finn, had 36 points in 65 games with the Edmonton Oilers in 2021-22. (14 goals)

He just signed a one-season, $3 million contract with the Oilers.

He was drafted fourth overall in 2016. (Immediately after Pierre-Luc Dubois)

Would this be a good acquisition to make, in your opinion?
