Oettinger, 23, is one of the best young goalies in the NHL, including being truly sensational in the most recent NHL playoffs.
On the season, he has a 41-23-8 record, a 2.46 goals-against average and a .913% save percentage.
He is currently a restricted free agent and many teams are considering a hostile bid to find their new goaltender of the future.
According to Yousuf, there is currently an impasse between Oettinger and the Stars, and it could be an interesting deal because his market value is huge.
Training camps start in about a month, so it could happen quickly, especially if an organization in search of a young (potentially elite) goalie decides to go ahead and take a chance.
Remember that Oettinger made NHL history a few months ago by holding a .956% efficiency rating in the 2022 playoffs in 7 games, and he still finished with a negative 3-4 record.
Let's mention, in closing, that Dallas has about $10 million to sign Oettinger and star forward Jason Robertson. They may run out of room and will have to get creative.
More details will follow.
