In the last few hours, Marc Dumont, who is now an ex-employee of the Montreal Canadiens, informed us of his surprise dismissal:
A dismissal via Zoom:
Hello Canadians fans, the Canadians just fired me on a ZOOM call, due to "creative differences."
- Marc Dumont
It got a lot of buzz, among Tricolore fans, so much so that Dumont's name was "Trending" on Twitter last night.
It must be said that he is popular, while his job was precisely to create content on social networks, and to liaise between fans and players / the organization.
Following this announcement, many have unfortunately blamed the excellent Chantal Machabée, but Dumont quickly corrected the shot:
"Please don't blame Chantal. She had nothing to do with it. We didn't even work in the same departments.
Thank you!"
"She is one of the nicest, warmest, funniest, best people in the world.
She has supported me the whole time. Chantal is amazing and doesn't deserve any of the things that some people say she deserves."
- Marc Dumont
Many fans then (then) blamed Geoff Molson, but again, Dumont was quick to correct the record:
"Molson reached out to me, immediately contacted me and made sure I was hired, just as I was fired (without cause, lol) from my other job.
So, I owe him nothing but a debt of gratitude. He has always supported my work. He sent me many kind messages.
If there was ONE person in the organization more passionate about the Canadiens than I am, it was Geoff. He really loves this team. He's a fan, first and foremost.
Even though I maintain that I was in first place. He can have it back now ;)"
- Marc Dumont
The lesson of this story is that it is really sad for the employee in question (Marc Dumont) and we can understand the many reactions among fans, but we should not try to find a culprit. Even less should we blame Chantal Machabée or Geoff Molson, good people, very devoted to the Tricolore and who have nothing to do with this decision. (according to the main interested party)
