New information surfaces for the 2022 lottery as the Canadiens will be watching the outcome very closely

We are now (finally) just a few hours away from the famous 2022 NHL lottery, a major step for the future of the Montreal Canadiens.

We're getting a lot of questions, so here's a full rundown on everything there is to know.

The excellent Marc-Olivier Beaudoin did a good summary:

"The lottery show runs from 6:30 to 7pm.

So blah blah from 6:30 to about 6:50 and then we get down to business.

We'll probably know the fate of the Canadian around 6:50/55!"

Let's also recall the probabilities of the Tricolore:

1st place: 25.5% chance
2nd place: 18.8% chance
3rd place: 55.7% chance

Finally, note that with the new NHL rules, only positions 1 and 2 will be drawn tonight. Also, a team can only advance a maximum of 10 positions. (So if one of the teams 12 to 16 wins the lottery, Montreal will be drafting at the very top - which explains the 25.5% chance)

The CH can't move back any further than the third overall pick.

We should know the Habs' draft rank around 6:58pm. We now have a more accurate time.

Also, let's remember that as part of this 2022 lottery, the GM of the Montreal Canadiens Kent Hughes will be at the press conference. A new information that has just surfaced.

Hughes will meet with the media, to react and to comment, after the unveiling of the result, around 7pm. Don't miss it.

It promises to be a very interesting evening.

The DGs will be present, but virtually, as the whole thing will take place in the studio, in the New York area.
