I'm not telling you anything new today by saying that the arrival of Arber Xhekaj really did good for the Montreal Canadiens (the team) and the fans, who immediately adopted him.
His name has surfaced in some small trade rumors, as we saw with Alex Romanov, but the fan base quickly brushed them aside and it evaporated very quickly.
We don't want to let him go and we want to keep Xhekaj.
However, Marc Dumont, a former employee of the Montreal Canadiens who is now a journalist, has just made a statement that is generating a lot of reaction.
Xhekaj in Laval?
Due to the surplus of defenders in the organization, see what Dumont mentioned when questioned on the subject by a user.
"Does Xhekaj have a place with the Habs because of the huge congestion that exists on the team's blue line?" - Fan
Dumont praised the merits of WiFi, before adding this:
"As for his place in the lineup, some options lead to Xhekaj starting the season in the NHL, but it will be difficult to integrate him if all players are healthy.
Players like David Savard and Joel Edmundson will probably be given priority because of their veteran status, while Kaiden Guhle, Jordan Harris, Justin Barron, Mike Matheson, and Jonathan Kovacevic all produced much better numbers than Xhekaj in 2022-23, while facing higher quality competition.
He could start the season as the seventh defender, but I believe it's best if he's assigned to the American League, with the Laval Rocket, if Kent Hughes can't trade Edmundson or Savard." - Marc Dumont Do you believe this is a real possibility? Do you think Xhekaj could play with the Laval Rocket next season?
This statement has certainly sparked reaction from many emotional fans, who already consider Xhekaj as a unique, important, and essential defender in the Montreal Canadiens' lineup.
