We were anxious to hear about the Montreal Canadiens goaltending situation today, especially because yesterday at a press conference, head coach Martin St-Louis opened the door to several possibilities.
Official announcement
We now have all the answers to our questions.
First of all, it's confirmed. Samuel Montembeault will be the starting goalie tonight against the Boston Bruins
"Samuel Montembeault vs NHLBruins."
- Renaud Lavoie
Next, please note that Cayden Primeau is back in his third goalie chair.
"Jake Allen has his net this morning to start morning practice. Cayden Primeau is the extra.
Primeau is the third goalie at the CH morning practice."
- Renaud Lavoie So that means Jake Allen looks like he's ready to return to the game, but all indications are that he'll be Montembeault's backup tonight.
This means that despite everything, Montembeault keeps his number one position, for now, and that is absolutely deserved.
More details to come.
