On Sunday, the Vancouver Canucks finally announced the firing of their head coach Bruce Boudreau.
What was an open secret has become a huge disrespect to the coach. The coach knew that he was already being replaced, but until it was announced, he had to stay on the job, face the media and act professionally. This he did very well, but not without emotion.
While his time as an NHL head coach is probably over, it would not be surprising to see him return to the league as an assistant. His experience could be very beneficial to any NHL team, but especially to a young coach.
You see what I mean, the CH has a young coach in place. Journalist Stu Cowan even suggests hiring Boudreau to support Martin St-Louis.
As our friends at Fanadians remind us, this isn't the first time rumors have linked a veteran coach to come in to help St. Louis. Names like John Tortorella, Alain Nasreddine and Bob Hartley have been mentioned over the past year. It remains to be seen if this time will be the right one.
