The departures of Alex DeBrincat to Ottawa, as well as Kirby Dach to Montreal, paved the way for this rather unexpected rebuild by new Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson, and as J.B. Gagné of GoHabsGo.com reports, a very big name could be leaving the Windy City as well.
According to insider Frank Seravalli, the Edmonton Oilers have contacted the Blackhawks to inquire about the availability of a certain Patrick Kane. As we know, Kane did not like the organization's latest personnel moves and many experts believe that the American forward will eventually leave the Blackhawks.
However, according to Seravalli, Kane's agent, Pat Brisson, recently stated that he expects his client to start next season in Chicago, in order to leave the dust behind, but if things don't improve during the season, Kane could very well ask to be traded.
Aside from the Oilers, the New York Rangers have also been rumored lately, but in either case, number 88 would be joining a team that can compete for top honors next season.
But imagine Patrick Kane with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl on the Oilers' power play. Or with his former teammate Artemi Panarin with the Blue Shirts.
Let's just say that the department in charge of putting together the games of the week should be pretty overwhelmed if Kane ever joins either team.
