Phillip Danault appeared in front of the camera to answer many questions about his decision to join the Los Angeles Kings. A decision that surprised some, but that seemed to satisfy Phil Danault and his family completely. On top of that, according to Marc Bergevin, the two clans did not discuss following the refusal (of the Canadiens' offer last fall) by Danault's clan.
The new member of the Los Angeles Kings should become the 2nd center behind Anze Kopitar and he admitted how much he felt wanted by the California-based club. He added that no other team has charmed him as much as the Kings, Luc Robitaille and Rob Blake have. The former number 24 even spoke of "belief". WOW!
In the last few days, the Kings did not let go of Phillip Danault as they really wanted to add him to their offensive core for the long term. Danault will have a role on the power play and the penalty kill, obviously. He was promised a whole role in the organization, so that's why he signed for six years.
As he so well pointed out, his departure is part of the game, it's business... But for my part, I believe that he no longer wanted to play for the Montreal Canadiens, he was the only Quebec native following the personal leave of Jonathan Drouin. Then add to that the fact that Montreal wasn't giving him what he wanted on the ice, which was time in power play.
In short, he still don't understand why he wasn't being given time on that part of the game... It was even getting frustrating for him to not be able to contribute to the power play.
