When P.K. Subban and Brandon Prust were playing with the Habs, the two teammates were good buddies.

As reported by Fanadiens.com's Patrick Beauséjour, the former Habs tough guy was featured on the Cam & Strick podcast, hosted by another former NHL strongman, Cam Janssen, along with reporter Andy Strickland.

The former No. 8 took the opportunity to mention that he and Subban still see each other to this day, though their relationship on the ice was strained at times. Despite this, they were able to talk to each other in the white of their eyes.

Even Prust admitted a rather unusual fact about the relationship the star defenseman had with the Habs management at the time.

He mentioned that when the organization did not agree with the actions of number 76, it was himself who served as an intermediary between Subban and the organization, which was led by Marc Bergevin and Michel Therrien at that time.

"(Marc) Bergevin and (Michel) Therrien knew that I was close to Subby and that we were friends, so there were a few times when they came to me to talk to him."

So, why not go directly through the defenseman?

Obviously, Subban had a real status of star player with the Habs at that time, but still, we must admit that this situation is quite peculiar and we wonder if this kind of scenario could well be repeated today with the new management in place.

Imagine if Kent Hughes asked Rem Pitlick to pass a message to Cole Caufield. That would be a very unusual situation.
