Rumours are all well and good, but in reality, Jeff Petry, Mike Hoffman, Josh Anderson, Jonathan Drouin and even Carey Price are still members of the Habs.
But could we see a major trade from Kent Hughes very soon?
It would appear so. As reported by Cimon Asselin of Habsolumentfan.com, an interesting proposal could greatly help the Habs.
Blain Potvin, of The Hockey Writers, proposed the following trade with the New York Islanders in one of his papers:
To the Habs: Anthony Beauvillier
To the Islanders: Jonathan Drouin, Mattias Norlinder and a second-round pick
Let's just say that at first glance, the price to acquire the Islanders' forward seems rather high. But considering that Drouin only has one year left on his contract at $5.5 million, compared to Beauvillier's two seasons at an annual salary of $4.15 million, this could be a profitable deal for Kent Hughes.
He would save about $1.4 million. Also, perhaps a change of scenery would be good for both forwards.
Drouin was limited to only 34 games this season and had 20 points. Beauvillier, on the other hand, has only 34 points, including 12 goals in 75 games. The Islanders forward is only 25 years old, two years younger than Drouin.
What do you think?
