After all the rumors, speculation and debate, we are now just hours away from the much anticipated 2022 NHL Draft, live from Montreal.
Today, Kent Hughes was at a press conference and he answered several questions, including of course about his first overall pick.
He did not want to reveal the identity of the player he will draft first overall, but he admitted that the Montreal organization is hesitating between three players: Logan Cooley, Juraj Slafkovsky and Shane Wright.
In the last few minutes, for one of the first times ever, it was the turn of TVA Sports informant Renaud Lavoie to give his opinion.
"If he's drafted by the Canadiens, I'm going to be surprised," Renaud Lavoie told The Dose. This guy didn't live up to expectations.
"If the Canadiens draft Shane Wright, I'll be happy for the kid, but I'll be very surprised. I think I would fall off my chair."
- Renaud Lavoie
TVA Sports reporter Lavoie adds that there's another element to consider: Slafkovsky can play with the Laval Rocket next year. (Not Shane Wright and not Logan Cooley either).
"That, to me, is a marked advantage." - Renaud Lavoie
Do you agree with him? He took many fans by surprise with this statement, who seemed to believe (a few weeks ago) that the choice was Shane Wright.
