A news has been circulating a lot today, and it is information from journalist Renaud Lavoie, of TVA Sports.

A bad news.

As also reported today by Maxime Truman of BPM Sports, and as actually reported by Renaud Lavoie, Montreal Canadiens forward Sean Monahan is said to have a groin/hip injury.

This is the worst case scenario, obviously considering his medical history.

Even if the CH organization is content to talk about a lower body injury, it would be a real groin/hip injury.

See Renaud Lavoie's statement on the matter in an article on the TVA Sports website.

"He had a broken foot. But that's not why he's out right now. It's because he played with that injury, so the hip and groin made up for it. So instead of being out for two weeks, we're up to six! And it's not over yet! We are told that he is close to a return. But we've been told that for two weeks!"

This doesn't bode well for the rest of the season.

Also, let's remember that early last week, the CH announced an important update to come by the end of last week (about Monahan), an update that never came. Radio silence since.

In any case, the important thing is Monahan's long-term health, and it's really not the worst thing if he takes the time to heal properly and re-signs with Montreal this summer.

When healthy, he is quite the hockey player.

Monahan, 28, has a solid 17 points in 25 games this season, his first with the Habs. He was acquired this summer from the Calgary Flames with a first round pick for future considerations.
