For the past few days, the teams of the Eastern Association have been fighting each other through transactions. Each team wants to be competitive in order to get through the difficult first two rounds of the playoffs.

One of the teams that have moved around a lot in recent days are the Toronto Leafs. In addition to adding forwards Ryan O'Reilly and Noel Acciari and Sam Lafferty, Kyle Dubas has solidified his defense with Jake McCabe, Erik Gustafsson and Luke Schenn. The only place the GM hasn't helped yet is at the goalie position.

The two CH goalies linked to the Leafs (one or the other)

On this subject, former NHL head coach and TVA Sports analyst Michel Bergeron believes that Toronto should go after Jake Allen. Having a veteran in front of the net would help the Leafs greatly, according to Bergeron.

"The Lightning's dominance in front of the net is huge, so, the Leafs absolutely have to call the Habs for Jake Allen. Toronto, in order to get Allen, is going to pay the big price." - Michel Bergeron

Sam Montembeault to the Leafs?

For his part, the renowned Craig Button is leaning towards Samuel Montembeault to be the second goalie this year and next.

His value-for-money contract would add to the Ontario club's payroll through 2024.

One thing is for sure, the Leafs definitely need some help at that position. If not from the CH, that help could come from Columbus while Jonathan Quick, who is newly arrived, could already leave. The latter does not seem to be happy with the transaction and does not seem to want to go play there, as reported by our friands at DLC,

The Leafs goaltending situation will definitely be one to watch between now and Friday at 3pm!
