Today, many eyes are on the man who is expected to become the first overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, Shane Wright.

He'll have a better idea of where he'll go next, when he goes to bed tonight after the official lottery.

Wright spoke to the media on the eve of the lottery.

Remember that the Montreal Canadiens have the best chance of winning the first overall pick and during his interview, Wright revealed where he wants to go in July.

While prospects rarely (usually) commit to a draft rank or goal, Shane Wright clearly did.

As reported by our colleagues at Marker.com, Wright said, in front of the media, that he definitely wants to be the first player selected in July because he deserves it, among other things.

I want to be number one, because when you look at the work I've put in my whole life, it leads to that conclusion. This is where I deserve to be and this is where I want to be.

If the Habs ever win the first overall pick, Wright is clear that he's going to do everything he can to become a Habs player and he's going to want to be picked by Montreal badly.

Recall that a few weeks ago, the promising young center had mentioned that he would be truly honored and that it would be a real dream for him to put on the Blue-White-Red uniform.

His speech is therefore relatively stable, but could possibly change following the result of tonight's draft.

Shane Wright wants to be number one and he deserves to be number one. One thing is for sure, he will already have an idea of his destiny on Tuesday night, during the draft lottery, when we will find out which team will get the first overall pick.

The CH has a 25.5% chance.
