In an interview with the excellent Anthony Martineau (TVA Sports), Shane Wright, who is considered to be the best prospect available for the 2022 NHL draft, once again wowed the gallery with his frank, honest and very direct answers.
Wright admits that the pressure on him this year was enormous and that it was heavy at times, but he also learned a lot from it, according to him.
As for the possibility of being drafted by the Habs, Wright says he would be very fortunate to have that honour, to play in Montreal and to play for one of the most passionate fan bases in the NHL.
He recognizes the privilege of playing for such a storied franchise and in such an incredible city, and Wright also believes he can be a great addition, at center, to the Tricolore organization (a perfect fit, which he believes could make the difference).
The youngster also mentions that he would love to join the CH's dynamic group of young players and would love to be "coached" by Martin St-Louis.
Also, Wright was asked: which Habs players would you like to play with?
And the youngster answers directly:
"Cole Caufield, as a center, I would definitely like to play with a natural scorer like him. It would be fun to play with him, for sure." And he adds this:
"There would also be Brendan Gallagher. He works so hard, he puts his heart and soul into his team and into his teammates. I would love to play with him too." - Shane Wright And in closing, he has a message for Montreal Canadiens fans. He absolutely wants to win, he wants to bring a winning culture to Montreal and touch the Stanley Cup as often as possible.
He is a real winner.
