Shockwaves are currently rippling through the OHL as the London Knights and the league announced this afternoon in a press release the sudden and tragic death of Abakar Kazbekov, an 18 year old Russian player.
The circumstances of his death have still not been revealed. What is even more incomprehensible at the moment is that he was in uniform last night, which makes it all even more mysterious.
Kazbekov was the 1st overall pick in the U18 draft in the summer of 2021.
Obviously, our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the young man.
Not surprisingly, tonight's game between the Knights and the Flint Firebirds has been postponed.
More details will follow.
