As the excellent Anthony Marcotte points out, a transaction concluded by the Canadiens with the Oilers turns out to be a big move for Pascal Vincent.

Marcotte even compared this transaction, concluded by general manager Kent Hughes, to the one that brought Alexandre Carrier to Montreal.

That says a lot.

Noel Hoefenmayer's acquisition for the Laval Rocket is similar to that of Alexandre Carrier for the Montreal Canadiens, according to Anthony Marcotte

See his analysis.

«Noel Hoefenmayer's acquisition has a very similar impact to that of Alexandre Carrier with the Canadiens.

He becomes a very important piece of the Rocket's Top 4 defense, but in an attack-focused role.

Quite the acquisition.»

- Anthony Marcotte, Laval Rocket game commentator

Some believe that Hoefenmayer could indeed have a future with the Canadiens.

Noel Hoefenmayer, 26 years old, is a right-handed defenseman standing 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 204 pounds. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2017 draft by the Arizona Coyotes (108th overall).

He was acquired by Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens on December 6, in exchange for young forward Jacob Perreault.

Since his arrival with Pascal Vincent's team, the left-handed defenseman has accumulated 8 points in 13 games and has secured a prominent role in the Rocket's top-4 defense. He's a name to keep in mind.

Meanwhile, since the trade, Perreault has accumulated 10 points in 21 games with the Edmonton Oilers' AHL affiliate, including two goals. He too has been playing better since the trade.
