We often mention and remind ourselves of how we see unique things with the Montreal Canadiens since the arrival of the new regime, featuring Kent Hughes, Jeff Gorton, and Martin St-Louis, among others.

We love it; it's different and refreshing.

In his most recent article, the excellent journalist Marc Antoine Godin, who covers the CH's activities, reported a special scene that took place during the Habs' most recent morning practice.

"General Manager Kent Hughes attended the Canadiens' morning skate on Thursday.

At the end of the exercise, Martin St-Louis gathered his players at the blue line [...] He spoke to them for a few moments, then he pointed towards Hughes. He invited his players to look at their GM, and the latter responded with a word or two and by waving his hand. [...]

St-Louis thus drew everyone's attention to his GM and used him as a direct source of motivation for a confrontation that would take place a few hours later. This kind of thing never happens."

They continue to invent new ways to surprise us and the players.

Imagine a head coach doing that towards a general manager like Lou Lamoriello. I have a feeling he wouldn't keep his job for very long.

A seemingly insignificant gesture by Martin St-Louis, but it speaks volumes about the new culture and philosophy of the organization.
