The Canadiens are breaking Cayden Primeau

On Tuesday night, the Canadiens once again received a hockey lesson by losing 7-1 to the New Jersey Devils. It was the young Cayden Primeau who kept the net of his own and under the circumstances, he could not do better than stop 27 of the 34 shots directed at him.
This performance is a carbon copy of the young goalkeeper's last departures, who more often than not must pay for the mediocrity of his team's defensive system.
In fact, as Patrick Friolet pointed out, Primeau has been in trouble since his 43-save performance against the Colorado Avalanche on January 22. In his last five games, Primeau dropped 18 goals, for an efficiency rate of just .837.
So Kent Hughes has no choice. It doesn't matter who he chooses, he will have to acquire another goalie in order to return Primeau to Laval before a point of no return is reached.
At just 22, Cayden Primeau still has a huge window of opportunity, so it would be foolish to lose another promising prospect by leaving him in a toxic environment like the one in which the Canadiens are currently in.
