Jake Allen and Samuel Montembeault will have big responsibilities in Montreal, while Cayden Primeau will be ready if needed.
Beyond these goaltenders, there is a certain lack of depth among the CH's goaltenders and this opens up possibilities for new faces.
INTERESTING INVITATION
As Steve Turcotte, who is sports director at Le Nouvelliste, reports, the Montreal Canadiens will invite Quebec goalie Antoine Coulombe to their rookie camp.
This will be a first professional camp for the talented 20 year old goaltender.
Coulombe, a former second round pick of the Shawinigan Cataractes in 2018, has quickly established himself as the #1 goaltender in the QMJHL. He played 41 games at the age of 16, a feat that was accomplished.
After that, he had a string of solid seasons:
- 23 wins and 0.894% efficiency in 2020
- 12 wins (6 losses) and 0.885% efficiency in 2021
- 22 wins (13 losses) and a solid 0.907% efficiency in 2022
Antoine Coulombe, 6 feet and 207 pounds, has had a brilliant career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and will now be able to try his luck at the Montreal Canadiens' rookie camp, which will begin on Wednesday, September 14, in Brossard.
A name to watch!
